Deluxe Re-Issue of Paul Kantner's
Planet Earth Rock and Roll Orchestra now on Sale!

The wait is over. Paul
Kantner's Science Fiction Masterpiece; Planet Earth Rock and Roll
Orchestra is being re-released in a Deluxe package. After twenty three
years the original, never before heard mix of Planet Earth Rock and Roll
Orchestra has been carefully transferred to CD format in the Sony
Studios.
The original Tapes were prepared for vinyl release. This altered the
sound from the original mix as the very top frequencies and lowest frequencies
had to be chopped in order to meet the RIAA standards for superior vinyl
playback. As a result this Vinyl Master just sounds different than the
original Master. The original master was completed six months before it
was altered to conform with the limitations of a great, but not perfect
technology. Sadly, the Cassettes were even worse as they were duplicated
at high speeds which chopped off everything above 10 to 12K, so the
sounded less airy than the original mix.
So what to the digital masters sound like; breathtaking. When I first
heard the CD I thought it was an entirely different mix. I had to A - B
the copies song by song, I compared the new CD to one that was made from
a record (the transfer was made using an audiophile turntable , pre-amp
and amplifier). Indeed, the volume levels of the instruments, vocals,
effects were basically the same, but the new recording just had MORE!
Still I was uncertain and when I spoke to Paul about the mix I
said that it sounded like an entirely different album. When Paul
listened to the master he had one response, let's do it!
So for the first time we present you with the great Paul Kantner
Masterpiece (and one of my favorite recordings of all time) the
Authorized version of Planet Earth
Rock and Roll Orchestra (with special thanks to our friends at
RCA/Sony/BMG). This may well be the great missing Jefferson Starship

One side of the poster is a map of the Earth with details of the
West coast of the US and Australia highlighted. These are the
two locations where the events that transpire happen, the view
is from space, where ultimately we find ourselves at the end of
the novel. The second side of the poster contain the lyrics
super-imposed over a blow up of the wonderful illustration found
on the cover of the album. |

were pressed and assembled at
one of the best Replication Plants on the West Coast. The first 3000
copies are being released as a Limited Edition Numbered set and are
priced from Thirty Five Dollars to Seventeen Dollars.
